Will a Dumpster Damage My Driveway?

October 2, 2026 · Placement

A Dandy Ridge Dumpsters truck dropping off a roll-off dumpster at a home in Jefferson County, TN

Set down carefully by a driver who's paying attention, a roll-off dumpster shouldn't tear up your driveway. It's the question we hear most from folks renting for the first time around Dandridge and Jefferson County, usually while looking at a driveway that was just sealed or poured. The honest answer is that a steel dumpster with debris in it is heavy, and how it's delivered matters. Here's exactly how we handle it at Dandy Ridge Dumpsters, so you know what to expect before the truck shows up.

How do we place the dumpster?

Slowly, and exactly where you want it. When Jason drops a dumpster, he puts it right where you ask, and if the spot is tight, up against a fence, between cars, or in a tricky corner, he takes his time and sets it clean rather than dragging it into position. We treat your property like it's our own, and every drop-off gets photographed, so there's a record of exactly how the dumpster and the driveway looked the day it landed. The full delivery rundown is on our how it works page.

What are rolliskates and do you need them?

Rolliskates are pads that go under the dumpster and spread the dumpster's weight across the surface, so it's easier on your concrete or asphalt. If your driveway is newly poured, freshly sealed, or it's a hot day when asphalt gets soft, they're worth asking about when you book. Plenty of standard drops don't need them, but on a surface you're worried about, they're cheap insurance. Just say "ask Jason about the rolliskates" and he'll set you up.

Where should the dumpster actually sit?

On your own driveway or property whenever possible. Both our dumpsters have the same 15-foot by 8-foot footprint, which fits on a normal residential driveway, and a 20-yard parked a few steps from the garage door makes loading day far easier. Placement on your own property also keeps things simple with the county: a dumpster on your driveway needs no paperwork, while a dumpster on a public street or right-of-way may need a permit. Our permit guide covers the local rules, and we'll help you plan a placement that skips the question entirely.

What should you tell us before delivery day?

Where you want the dumpster, and anything the driver should know about getting there. A steep or curved driveway, a septic tank or drain field to stay off of, low branches, a gate. Around Douglas Lake we back into plenty of lake-house driveways that weren't exactly designed for a roll-off truck, and knowing the layout ahead of time is how the drop goes smooth. Delivery itself is a small mileage-based fee, $10 plus 50 cents a mile from Dandridge, shown when you book, and we aim for same-day delivery when we can, next day if not.

Call or text Jason at (865) 352-1889 to talk through your driveway before you book, or book online and leave the placement notes there. Either way, the dumpster lands where you want it and your driveway stays the way we found it.
